Hatch catches
|
Hatch catches were the Jetex designers ingenious gadgets for retaining the cover (or hatch) on the underside of Tailored models to give access to the fully enclosed motor. Moulded in light plastic, they elegantly performed a necessary function for a minimum weight addition. They were easily attached by slotting the fixed component into a simple cutout in the fuselage and gluing into place (see the upper diagram on the packet). Once affixed, it was a straightforward and easy task to insert the hatch with motor attached and slide the movable component of the catch across into the hatch (see the lower diagram). Originally offered as part of Tailored kits, they proved so effective and popular that they were later sold separately (packaged as seen here) to modellers making their own scale designs with fully enclosed motors. |
